5 of the BEST kids activities in Babylon!.png

We all want our kids to find their passion. You know, the thing that makes them light up with excitement. One of the best ways to do that is to get out there and let them try a variety of activities. For this month’s blog post, we thought it would be fun to put together a list of Babylon activities so you can explore some new and fresh ideas with your child.

Our community is so lucky to have such amazing options for kids. From sports all the way to the arts there is something for everyone in Babylon, NY. Going through all the options was so fun, we were definitely inspired to get out there and try something new for ourselves. To help you sort through the options, we have selected our FAVORITE activities for your child to try this fall.

  • Positions Dance Studio: OK, we may be a little bit biased here but we LOVE LOVE LOVE Positions! There are so many fun classes to choose from. We have dance (ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, modern, tumbling, mommy and me, acro, etc.) classes for students ages 18 months-adult. Our classes are designed to foster self-confidence in our dancers and we are proud to provide dance classes to ALL in a family-friendly environment. We know your child will enjoy taking classes at Positions and we are currently accepting enrollment for our fall session. Visit our website to view our schedule and learn more about our programs.

  • Argyle Theatre: This historic theater has been newly renovated and we are so excited it is back in action! They are starting their Children’s Theater off with “The Wizard Of Oz” this fall and it is sure to be a huge success! If your child loves playing dress up and putting on shows in the living room, they will love taking a theater class.

  • ArtSea Studio: If your child likes drawing and painting, they will sure love taking a class at ArtSea Studio. They have an amazing lineup of art classes for children (pre-K through 12th grade). We just love the Parent/Child Nights that they offer once or twice a month. What a great way to spend some time with your child!

  • South Shore Paddleboards: Ok, how cool would your child feel after getting the hang of a paddleboard?! We felt pretty amazing the first time we did it so we are POSITIVE they will too. South Shore Paddleboards has classes and rentals for the whole family. Learning a new skill with your child will bring you closer together and teach them that you are never too “old” to try something new.

  • Bubble Boutique and Learning Center: This is your one-stop shop for apparel, gifts, and unique toys. The best part? They have children's classes too! They specialize in classes for babies-12 years old. If you have a crafter, you NEED to check them out! Right now their website is undergoing changes, the best way to check them out is via their Facebook page.

Well, there you have it. A jam-packed list of super fun activities to check out with your child. Isn’t Babylon Village such an amazing place to be a kid?! We are going to let you in on a secret. It’s a great place to be an adult too. All of these businesses have classes and workshops for adults as well. Now you can be free to explore YOUR passion along with your child.

Do you have a fun, share-worthy activity that didn’t make the list? Give them a shout out in the comments, our families would LOVE to know what your kids love to do in the community.

Who Is Your Hero?

Written By Chelsea Anderson

With Memorial Day and our recital quickly approaching, and both having to do with heroes, several students and faculty were asked to name who they consider a hero. A few students recognized the ‘dance moms’ that make them who they are. Sofia Giorgio, a member on one of our Performance Teams, had this to say about her mother: “She’s nice and helpful and wants me to get good grades.”

Nicole Jarvis and Maya Ryan, also on Positions Performance Teams, recognized their instructor, Miss Dominique, as a hero and a “good role model,” along with their mothers. Along with the many other men and women who fought and have suffered for this country, these young ladies took the time to remember their loved ones that fought in the Army.

Annie Castellano, one of our very talented teachers got to marry her hero! Her husband Chris was a Sergeant in the United States Army and now currently works in the Reserves. He also is a member of the FDNY in Queens, New York. “Being a part of his life has allowed me to see all the courageous jobs he has taken part in.” said Annie, “My husband’s dedication to his country and others is to be admired, yet he is so humble.”

Jeanine Cullen, also a staff member here at Positions, said she would also like to remember the many heroes that serve our country well. “My three/four year olds are doing their recital dance dedicated to these heroes.”

Now that spring has officially sprung, our dancers and staff have many things to look forward to (recital being one of them!) We asked our friends what their favorite part of the new season. Some of the responses included birthdays, barbecues, end of school, going fishing with the family, and, of course, the recital!
